Murray Through to Qtr-Finals in Memphis

Well this caught me out.

Still riding high on Andy Murray's first ATP title, I completely missed the fact that he was due to begin another tournament three days later.

Murray won his first two rounds against Rainer Schuttler and Rik De Voest. Both went to three sets, and the first round match in particular was a close run thing with Murray just two points from defeat at one set down and 5-4 down in the second.

The final score was 1-6 7-5 6-2.

The 2nd round match was not as close but still took almost two and a half hours and three sets - 7-6 (7/4) 3-6 7-5

Andy Murray will face Robin Soderling in the Qtr-Finals for the second time in just over a week. This should be a tasty encounter considering Soderling's comments about Murray after their previous encounter.

Even if the match goes Soderling's way, however, it could be enough to move Murray's ranking above that of Tim Henman's, making him the GB number one for the first time.
