Andy Murray Defeated by James Blake
6-3 6-3 was the score, but it doesn't tell the full story.
Murray actually broke Blake on four occasions but, by contrast, Murray lost 7 of his 9 service games.
Murray's serve has been a weakness for some time, but Blake really exposed it.
To be fair, this was a match you would expect Blake to win. It reminds me of a match I saw some years ago of a very young Martina Hingis, playing a very experienced Steffi Graf. Hingis competed well, breaking Graf several times. But the problem was that Hingis didn't have the power or accuracy in her serve and Graf was just eating up her opponent's service game.
If Murray's serve develops more power and consistency and, increasing in strength and coaching should accomplish this, he will become a formidable opponent, instead of just a tenacious one.
I'm looking forward to watching it happen.
