Andy Murray Loses to Roddick, But World Ranking is Now 19
14 matches in 17 days was a step too far for Murray in the Qtr-Finals in the Cincinnati Masters.
Murray admitted that, "I considered pulling out when I woke up in the morning and about a half an hour before I went on."
That's not to say that Murray capitulated in his two-set defeat to Roddick. Murray had break points in the first set, but Roddick broke Murray three times to claim victory 6-3 6-4.
Roddick then went on to win the tournament, defeating Ferrero in the final.
Murray now has a little over a week to prepare for the US Open. His new ranking of 19, his first entry into the top 20, will ensure a seeding when the draw is made.
