Murray Through to Third Round - Wimbledon

After giving his fans an anxious night, Murray wrapped up the match in just 26 minutes, breaking Benneteau in the third game and then taking the next four games to win the set 6-1 and the match 7-5 (7-5) 6-4 4-6 6-1.

Next up is Andy Roddick (5). Their last and only meeting was also the week of Andy's first ATP Tour title, when Murray beat Roddick in the semi-final 7-5 7-5.

Murray will again be the underdog and, while a victory would be thrilling, whatever happens Murray will have matched his break-through performance of last year and demonstrated some solid progress.

Murray 2 Sets to 1 Up - Play Suspended - 2nd Rnd Wimbledon

Both players have blown hot and cold through this match, but Murray held his nerve in a first set tie break and came back from 0-3 down in the second set to win 6-4.

Murray was a break up in the third, but at 4-2 up he somehow managed to lose the next four games to gift the third set to Benneteau. From looking a cert for the third round, Murray looks a little shakey.

Let's hope that Murray holds his nerve tomorrow when they come out to finish the match. Current score, Murray leads 7-6 6-4 4-6.

Murray Claims Superb Win Against Massu - Wimbledon 1st Round

He may claim to prefer the US Open, but Murray's opening match at his 2nd Wimbledon suggests that, like Henman over the last 13 years, the premier tennis event is going to prove to be a happy hunting ground.

Massu may have been the favourite prior to the match, but Murray started strongly and never looked like losing.

The final score: 6-1 6-4 6-4.

In the next round, Murray will play Bjorn Phau (59) or Julien Benneteau (55).

Andy Murry Vs Nicolas Massu - 1st Round - Wimbledon

The draw has been made and Andy Murray will play Nicolas Massu (33) in the first round.

Massu is a clay-court specialist so Murray has every reason to be optimistic. He may, however, spare a thought for Henman and Rusedski who have drawn Soderling and Safin respectively.

Thinking positively, if Murray progresses to the 2nd round, he will face either Bjorn Phau (59) or Julien Benneteau (55).

It doesn't look like we have a schedule of play yet, but I'll post it as soon as I find out.

Official Andy Murray Website

Andy Murray now has his own official website - a combination of news, his own personal blog, an official merchandise shop (coming soon) and a handful of photos showing Andy Murray looking moody alongside quotes from tennis giants, Boris Becker, John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors and, um, Sean Connery.

Initially this looks like a promising website. The news is up to date and the blog offers a brief, but entertaining, look at Murray's schedule.

Very pleased to see that a site feed is included. I couldn't see any obvious links to it, but it's wordpress blog, so it was bound to be in there somewhere - http://andymurray.com/feed/

You can leave comments after the blog postings, but it would be nice to have the ability to contact the webmaster. Probably worried about receiving thousands of emails from rabid fans - heh heh.

Should also mention there is a competition to win tickets to see Murray play at Wimbledon. I couldn't get the text message to send, but you might have more luck.

All good stuff. I'll be adding a link to my Links section.

Murray Beaten by Seppi in Three Sets - Nottingham Open

It seems that Seppi coped with the blustery conditions better than Murray in the end, but it's worth noting that in the first set tie-break, Murray was 4-2 up at one stage.

He then lost the next five points in a row.

A little more composure at this stage and we'd be celebrating a straight sets victory, instead of a defeat in a tournament where Murray was the highest ranked player remaining.

Nonetheless, this is still better preparation for next weeks Wimbledon than the Stella Artois Championship and will give Murray a few days rest.

The final score was 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 1-6.

Andy Murray Vs Andreas Seppi - Qtr-Final Nottigham Open

Andy Murray will play Andreas Seppi (72) in the Qtr-Final. Murray and Seppi are 2nd on court this afternoon, so could begin as early as 3:30.

Two interesting things to note:

1) There are no seeded players left in the tournament.

2) The way the draw is a structured, Murray could meet Tipsarevic in the final.

Andy Murray Defeats Max Mirnyi - 2nd Rnd Nottingham Open

Andy Murray is hitting form at the right time with a well-crafted win against Max Mirnyi 7-6 (7-2) 6-4.

Murray was 0-3 and 1-4 down in the first set, but showed the fighting spirit, that has attracted so many Murray fans, to break back and win the first set in a tie break.

The second set required a similar level of concentration, staying with serve until the final game of the set when Murray broke the Mirnyi serve.

Murray Defeats Tursunov at Nottingham Open

I managed to listen to most of the match via online radio and Murray seemed pretty comfortable throughout. Tursunov, by contrast, seemed to struggle through most of the match.

The only anxious moment was when Murray slipped and hurt his ankle while 5-4 up in the first set. There was a short medical break, but Murray felt able to play on and never looked back. The final score 6-4 6-3.

Andy Murray Vs Dmitry Tursunov - Nottingham Open

After Rusedski pulled out of the Nottingham Open with an injury, Murray was offered a wildcard into the tournament.

After only managing one match at the Stella Artois Championship, Murray will no doubt be pleased to get in some extra grass experience. Wimbledon is just around the corner.

Tursunov will prove a stern test, currently in his highest ever ATP ranking of 31.

The match will get underway at approximately 1pm today.

Murray Defeated in 1st Round at Stella Artois Championship

When rain stopped play on Tuesday afternoon, Murray was 1 set down, but 5-2 up in the second.

When play resumed, Murray won the second set 6-3, but then lost the third set 2-6.

I only watched the match up until the rain delay, so I can't really comment on the final set, but the first two sets were desperately disappointing to watch.

There where flashes of brilliance to Murray's game, but the overall performance was inconsistent to the point where it was hard to believe that this was the same player that beat Roddick & Hewitt in back-to-back matches earlier in the year. And, once again, the first serve percentages were much too low.

All in all, it's been a disappointing few months for Murray, but it's worth noting that there does not appear to be any one reason for the recent blip in form.

Playing without a coach, injuries, difficult drawings in early rounds and some erratic play have all played their part and there is nothing in that mix that can't be smoothed out in time.

This years Wimbledon may be too soon to resolve enough of the problems to allow Murray to make the kind of impact he did last year, but maybe the lowered expectation will work in his favour. It's often the moments when people are expecting the least that Murray chooses to shine.

Andy Murray Plays Janko Tipsarevic This Afternoon

Murray is playing down his chances against Tipsarevic who he claims is "pretty good on quick courts", but Murray will still be the favourite going into this match.

Murray is 2nd on court this afternoon so 3pm will likely be the earliest we can expect this match to get underway. Henman's match against Agassi was shown on BBC2 yesterday afternoon so, hopefully, the BBC will extend the same courtesy to Murray.

Andy Murray & Sebastien Grosjean Defeat Paul Goldstein & Jim Thomas at the Stella Artois Championships

Andy Murray Vs Janko Tipsarevic at the Stella Artois Championship

Andy Murray has drawn Janko Tipsarevic (114) in the 1st rnd of the Stella Artois Championship.

On paper, Murray should be favourites to win this match against a player that has never been higher than 90th in the world rankings.

Andy Murray will be keen to put on a good showing in this tournament, traditionally seen as a warm up for Wimbledon.

Murray is not scheduled to play this match today, so will likely line up some time tomorrow.

Brad Gilbert to Coach Andy Murray?

The BBC is reporting that Brad Gilbert, former coach of Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick, is in talks with Andy Murray.

If Murray could secure the services of a coach of this calibre, this would be a very welcome boost, with Wimbledon just a few weeks away.

The first grass-court tournament of the year, the Stella Artois Championship, begins on Monday with the draw still to be made.

The Stella Artois championship is boasting its strongest ever line-up with six of the top-ten players featuring, including Rafael Nadal.

Murray & Auckland Win 1st Rnd Doubles in French Open

Murray decided that the efforts required to play Doubles would be insufficient to cause additional problems with his back.

Andy Murray & James Auckland beat Ashley Fisher & Jordan Kerr 6-2 6-4.

Murray had claimed previously that the back problems were down to the fact that his bones have not yet finished growing. Hopefully the softer grass courts will diminish the chances of the problem repeating itself in the near future.
