When rain stopped play on Tuesday afternoon, Murray was 1 set down, but 5-2 up in the second.
When play resumed, Murray won the second set 6-3, but then lost the third set 2-6.
I only watched the match up until the rain delay, so I can't really comment on the final set, but the first two sets were desperately disappointing to watch.
There where flashes of brilliance to Murray's game, but the overall performance was inconsistent to the point where it was hard to believe that this was the same player that beat Roddick & Hewitt in back-to-back matches earlier in the year. And, once again, the first serve percentages were much too low.
All in all, it's been a disappointing few months for Murray, but it's worth noting that there does not appear to be any one reason for the recent blip in form.
Playing without a coach, injuries, difficult drawings in early rounds and some erratic play have all played their part and there is nothing in that mix that can't be smoothed out in time.
This years Wimbledon may be too soon to resolve enough of the problems to allow Murray to make the kind of impact he did last year, but maybe the lowered expectation will work in his favour. It's often the moments when people are expecting the least that Murray chooses to shine.
