Andy Murray New ATP World Ranking - January 2007
Andy Muray's new ATP world ranking is 14. Well done Andy!
Moving up one place for getting to the fourth round of a Grand Slam may seem stingy but, of course, the higher you move up the world ranking the harder it gets to move up.
As you may have heard by now, Murray will not be playing in Zagreb to give a blister (picked up during the Australian Open) time to heal. It looks like his next tournament will be San Jose which Murray will enter as the holder.
This is the first time Murray has had an ATP title to defend. He'll be up for it, but it means that he has a lot of ranking points to defend if he's going to maintain his push into the top ten.
Whatever happens next month it's worth remembering that in 2006 between San Jose and Wimbledon, Murray went on a lean streak. This means that Murray has the opportunity to pick up a lot of ranking points over the next few months and a real chance to break into the top ten before the French Open.
